I will take pics later as tonight the eggs go in!!

well our chickies are 6 weeks old now, so clearly we needed an updated pic. :) Im on the pther to finding out what they are and sexing them to see what are hens/roosters. I think the white is a guy and the rest are hens, but we will see I guess.

well they are 5 weeks old now and due to their size we tried them outside last night, I buffered their box so it was nice and warm and they went great! they are getting pretty big now, hehe, we will be getting to building their coop soon enough1

4 weeks and still going strong....

these are our bubbas as of this morning. They are nearly triple the size of what they were when we first got them!! They are now spending more time outside in the sun and getting used to the weather. Its a great time for them as summer is approaching and then when winter hits they will be fully grown chooks :)

we are sorting out where the permanant chook house will go and what it will look like. this is the area in which it will go (and yes I know it needs to be mowed, hehe) but this is the general idea of what it might look like after its done (very rough scetch) and finished.

mini chicken house

a few weeks ago, we ended up with chickens from v's kinder. 7 chickie babes which I suspect one is a rooster. They have settled in pretty well and the kids were a little too interested in them to start, but they have calmed down now, hehehe.

we put together this mini house for them, using a steel a-frame I got off freecycle, and chicken wire. a few support poles taken from the kids old playpen and  their old playhouse turned upside down to use the tarp floor and walah! we have a starter chicken house. the chikens seem to like it, but they have only been out in it for a day, they came back in at night as it was cold and started to rain, and well they are only 3 weeks old now, so better to have them inside at night.
